The Kenyan government has now licensed Paystack as a Payment Service Provider.
Paystack has been authorized to provide its services in Kenya by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK). Additionally, the private beta version of the financial technology firm has been released in Nigeria.
“We will work with an initial group of businesses to refine our platform in Kenya, implement feedback, and ensure that we build a fast, reliable, and truly delightful payment experience,” said Vikaran Ubhi, Paystack’s Product Manager in Kenya.
With this authorization, Kenyan companies are permitted to take payments through M-Pesa, card payments (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), and Apple Pay, as well as set up automatic recurring card payments.
Additionally, companies may accept payments using industry-leading platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, and Wix by integrating with the fintech’s vast inventory of plugins and using the information provided in the Paystack Developer Documentation.
“In every country in which we operate, Paystack strives to build fast, secure, and reliable payment services for businesses and customers. According to a statement by Paystack’s Business Operations and Expansion Lead in Kenya, Caroline Muema, “In Kenya—our fourth country where we operate locally after South Africa, Ghana, and Nigeria—we’re thankful to receive the authorization required to operate in full compliance with regulations.”
